Utah woman indicted for alleged shooting incident in Salt Lake City

A federal grand jury has indicted a Utah resident on multiple firearm charges following an alleged shooting incident in Salt Lake City. Lisa Ann Corriz, 46, from Gusher, Utah, is accused of firing gunshots at two individuals from a parked pickup truck.

The charges stem from an event on April 27, 2025. According to court documents, officers from the Salt Lake City Police Department responded to reports of a possible shooting at approximately 11:40 p.m. The victims reported that the previous morning, a red pickup truck had parked outside one of their homes. Corriz allegedly began shouting at them from the back seat before producing a handgun and firing four shots. The victims claimed they narrowly avoided being hit by the gunfire.

Law enforcement recovered a Winchester .380 caliber casing and noted damage consistent with bullet strikes at the scene. A second casing was later found by one of the victims.

Corriz faces charges including felon in possession of ammunition, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and possession of a stolen firearm. Her initial court appearance is set for May 22, 2025.

Acting United States Attorney Felice John Viti announced the indictment. The case is under investigation by an FBI Task Force Officer with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Assistant United States Attorney Victoria K. McFarland will prosecute.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, aimed at combating illegal immigration and violent crime through coordinated efforts across various law enforcement agencies.

It should be noted that an indictment is merely an allegation; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
