The Stimson Center has announced the addition of Dr. Lisa Hoffman and John Demers to its Board of Directors. The organization, known for its focus on international security and governance challenges, believes the new appointees will bring valuable perspectives.

"Lisa and John bring distinct but complementary perspectives to the Stimson Center," said Brian Finlay, President and CEO of the Stimson Center. "Their commitment to security and smart governance reflects our values and enhances our ability to shape real-world solutions in an increasingly complex global environment," added Finlay. He emphasized that "Stimson will benefit greatly from the depth of expertise and critical thinking that John Demers and Lisa Hoffman bring to the table."

John Demers is currently Corporate Secretary and Vice President at The Boeing Company, responsible for legal matters including corporate governance, finance, strategy, environmental operations, and cybersecurity. Before rejoining Boeing in 2021, he served as Assistant Attorney General for National Security at the U.S. Department of Justice under both Presidents Trump and Biden.

Lisa Hoffman is a professor at the University of Washington Tacoma's School of Urban Studies. Her research focuses on urban governance and social change in East Asia, particularly China. Hoffman's fieldwork has explored topics such as urban professionals, rural urbanization, green urbanism regimes, and volunteerism in China.

The Stimson Center aims to promote international security through research, analysis, engagement, and policy innovation. It was founded during the Cold War era to address global stability concerns and continues to engage with emerging voices to generate innovative solutions.
