ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

PennRose Farms, LLC has announced a recall of 5-pound mesh bags of whole cucumbers due to potential contamination with Salmonella. This organism can cause serious infections in vulnerable populations such as young children and the elderly. Healthy individuals may experience symptoms like fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

The recall was initiated after PennRose Farms was informed by their supplier, Fresh Start Produce Sales, Inc., that Bedner Growers, Inc. is recalling these cucumbers for potential contamination. The affected cucumbers were repacked by PennRose Farms into 5-pound mesh bags (1,152 cases or 9,216 individual units) featuring the Restaurant Depot and PennRose Farms logos. They can be identified by UPC code 841214101714 and were packaged between May 2-May 5 with lot numbers 48-122 through 48-125. These products were distributed to Restaurant Depot centers in New Jersey, Georgia, Florida, Illinois, and Ohio.

No other products from PennRose Farms are impacted by this recall. The company has informed its distribution partners about the recall and instructed them to notify customers who received the affected products.

Consumers possessing these recalled cucumbers are advised not to consume them and should discard them immediately. Restaurants and retailers should also destroy any recalled cucumbers in their inventory. If these products have been served to consumers, they should be notified about the potential health risks. Additional information is available by contacting PennRose Farms at 800-804-7254 during business hours.

This recall is being conducted in coordination with the FDA.
