U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins joined President Donald J. Trump in releasing the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission Report at the White House on May 22, 2025. The report seeks to address high rates of chronic health issues among American families, especially children, by encouraging further research and education on diet, environmental exposures, physical activity, and overmedicalization.
“We must do more to improve the health outcomes of our kids and families, and President Trump knows agriculture is at the heart of the solution," stated Secretary Rollins. She emphasized the role of America's farmers and ranchers in providing a safe, abundant, and affordable food supply while working towards healthier consumption for families.
Under President Trump's directive, the USDA is intensifying efforts to promote healthy eating and lifestyle habits. Secretary Rollins has urged governors to submit Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) waivers aimed at helping communities achieve these goals. Recently, she signed a waiver removing soda and energy drinks from Nebraska’s SNAP program.
Additionally, Secretary Rollins collaborated with dairy producers to eliminate artificial colors from products sold to K-12 schools for National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs starting in the 2026-2027 school year. Tyson Foods also agreed to remove petroleum food dyes from their products by month's end.
