U.S. District Judge Kirk E. Sherriff has sentenced Delonte Williams, a 37-year-old from Washington, D.C., to 33 months in prison for assault with a deadly weapon at the U.S. Penitentiary in Atwater. This information was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith.
Court documents reveal that on April 28, 2024, Williams pursued another inmate within the cell block while wielding a jail-made knife-like weapon. Together with another inmate, Williams used this improvised weapon to stab the victim, causing injuries that necessitated medical attention.
The co-defendant in this case, Jarvell Kent, is awaiting sentencing before Judge Sherriff on June 23, 2025.
The investigation leading to these charges was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Prisons. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Veneman-Hughes prosecuted the case.
