U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), along with several federal agencies, conducted immigration enforcement operations on May 27 on the islands of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. The operation resulted in approximately 40 apprehensions, including a documented gang member and at least one child sex offender.
Patricia H. Hyde, acting Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston, commented on the operation: “Operations like this highlight the strong alliances that ICE shares with our fellow law enforcement partners.” She added that ICE officers collaborated with agents from the FBI, DEA, and ATF to arrest illegal alien offenders, ensuring public safety by removing them from New England neighborhoods.
The operation involved ICE Boston officers and agents from FBI Boston, DEA New England, and ATF Boston. They apprehended around 40 individuals who had U.S. criminal records, including a member of the MS-13 street gang.
Kimberly Milka, acting Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Boston Division, stated: “This operation highlights FBI Boston’s ongoing commitment to supporting our partners at the Department of Homeland Security with identifying and apprehending those who are breaking the law by violating our immigration laws.”
The U.S. Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England assisted by providing transportation for aliens off Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard using small boats and a cutter.
The public is encouraged to report suspected immigration violations or related criminal activity through the ICE Tip Line or online via the ICE Tip Form.
