A 36-year-old man has been sentenced to over ten years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine, according to U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei.

Jesus Cedillo pleaded guilty on February 25. U.S. District Judge David Morales sentenced Cedillo to 126 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

The incident occurred on October 28, 2024, when Cedillo approached the Border Patrol checkpoint near Falfurrias. A K-9 unit alerted authorities, leading to a search of his vehicle. Multiple bundles of cocaine, totaling 28.6 kilograms, were discovered hidden in speaker boxes in the trunk.

Cedillo admitted that an ex-co-worker recruited him to transport the cocaine to Houston for $6,000.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and Border Patrol. Assistant U.S. Attorney Zachary Bird prosecuted the case.
