Nolvin Alfredo-Diaz, a 43-year-old Honduran citizen residing illegally in Lewisburg, West Virginia, has been sentenced to three years in prison for reentering the United States after being removed. Following his sentence, Alfredo-Diaz will be handed over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for deportation proceedings.
Court documents reveal that ICE agents arrested Alfredo-Diaz on August 21, 2024, in Lewisburg. He admitted to being in the United States illegally and having been previously deported. Alfredo-Diaz lacked identification documents granting him legal status in the country.
Fingerprint analysis linked Alfredo-Diaz to two prior deportations from the United States to Honduras after felony convictions. He was convicted of felony heroin possession on September 25, 2006, and felony cocaine possession on December 20, 2007, both in Denver County, Colorado. His first removal occurred on December 27, 2006. He was found again in Canon City, Colorado, on July 21, 2010, leading to another removal on August 5, 2010.
Alfredo-Diaz did not obtain permission from the Secretary of U.S. Homeland Security to reapply for admission following his previous removals and did not attempt legal reentry into the United States.
Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston praised ICE's investigative efforts in this case. Chief United States District Judge Frank W. Volk delivered the sentence while Assistant United States Attorney Erik S. Goes prosecuted.
