MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has reported that Dustin Lee Harp, a 41-year-old resident of Wilburton, Oklahoma, received a sentence of 46 months in prison. Harp was charged with one count of illegal receipt of a firearm by a person under indictment or information.
The investigation leading to this charge was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Latimer County Sheriff’s Office. Harp entered a guilty plea on January 7, 2025. According to investigators, between December 12, 2020, and December 9, 2021, he received a semi-automatic rifle while being charged in the District Court of Latimer County for an offense punishable by over one year in prison.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration among law enforcement agencies and communities. On May 26, 2021, the Department launched a strategy to strengthen PSN with core principles including fostering community trust and legitimacy, supporting violence prevention organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
The hearing was presided over by Chief U.S. District Judge Eric F. Melgren from the United States District Court for Kansas. Harp has been placed in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service until his transfer to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve his non-paroleable sentence.
