Buffalo man sentenced for cocaine distribution

U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo has announced the sentencing of Nicholas Gaskin, a 37-year-old resident of Buffalo and Jamestown, New York. Gaskin was convicted of possession with intent to distribute cocaine and has been sentenced to 41 months in prison by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. Violanti, who managed the case, detailed that in March 2022, officers from the Jamestown Police Department stopped a vehicle where Gaskin was a passenger. He was arrested due to an active arrest warrant. During the arrest, officers found approximately 12 grams of crack cocaine and $1,766 in cash on Gaskin's person. A subsequent search of his residence in Jamestown led to the discovery of a semi-automatic pistol, ammunition, $158 in cash, suboxone pills and strips, six grams of suspected drugs, and drug paraphernalia. The investigation also involved four controlled purchases of cocaine from Gaskin.

The investigation leading to this sentencing was conducted by the Jamestown Police Department under Chief Timothy Jackson's direction and the Federal Bureau of Investigation under Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia.
