A former police officer from Killen, Alabama, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for civil rights violations and child sexual exploitation. U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona announced the sentencing of Jarrod Gailen Webster, 27, who was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman during a traffic stop and receiving explicit images from a minor.
United States District Judge Liles Burke delivered the sentence following Webster's previous guilty plea on March 4, 2025. The charges included one count of deprivation of rights under color of law and one count of sexual exploitation of children.
According to court documents, on November 12, 2023, Webster stopped a woman's vehicle and asked her what she would do to "get out of this." When she refused to comply with his demands, he handcuffed and assaulted her. Additionally, between June 2016 and October 2018, Webster communicated with a minor via phone and requested sexually explicit images.
Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon stated: “Jarrod Webster forcibly assaulted a woman after a traffic stop, and exploited a minor to receive sexually explicit images.” Dhillon emphasized that this behavior represented an abuse of authority as a police officer.
U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona commented on the case: “This sentence sends a clear message that such criminal conduct will not be tolerated.”
Special Agent in Charge David R. Fitzgibbons from the FBI Birmingham Field Office remarked: “Today’s sentencing clearly demonstrates there are serious consequences when someone tarnishes the badge by breaking the law."
The investigation was conducted by the FBI Birmingham Field Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Royster and Trial Attorney Sarah Howard prosecuted the case.
