Jeff C. Coffman and Benjamin Klein named chiefs of White Plains Division

Jay Clayton, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced changes in leadership within the Office's White Plains Division. Jeff C. Coffman and Benjamin Klein have been appointed as Chiefs of the division, succeeding Perry Carbone, who is retiring from his role as Chief of the Criminal Division.

Coffman joined the office in 2018 as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Criminal Division after serving five years in a similar role in the Northern District of New York and one year as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in Washington, D.C. He previously worked at Trout Cacheris, PLLC and co-founded a law firm in Washington, D.C. Coffman holds Bachelor of Science degrees from Virginia Tech and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.

Klein became part of the office in 2021 as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Criminal Division. Prior to that, he was employed at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz law firm. Klein has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University and a J.D. from Yale Law School, where he contributed to The Yale Law Journal.

U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton expressed confidence in their abilities: “I am pleased to announce the selection of Jeff Coffman and Ben Klein as co-chiefs of the Office’s White Plains division,” said Clayton. “Jeff and Ben will bring a wealth of prosecutorial talent and experience to lead the critically impactful work of the division."

Clayton also acknowledged Perry Carbone's contributions: "On behalf of the hundreds of women and men of the Southern District who have benefited from working with Perry Carbone, I say thank you, Perry, for your commitment to justice." He praised Carbone's career-long dedication to public safety.

Additionally, Clayton thanked Margery Feinzig for her interim leadership: "Her steady leadership, professionalism, and tireless commitment ensured that the White Plains Division continued to function at the highest level."
