Two men involved in a fatal robbery at a Beaumont convenience store have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms for firearms violations. Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs announced the sentences handed down by U.S. District Judge Marcia Crone on May 30, 2025.
Keandre Marquis Robinson, aged 20 from Beaumont, received a sentence of 405 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to possessing and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence resulting in death. Larry Nathaniel Hagan, aged 28 from Houston, also pleaded guilty to the same charges and was sentenced to 420 months.
The court heard that on December 29, 2023, Robinson and Hagan entered Kris Food Mart on Gulf Street wearing masks and carrying semi-automatic pistols. Robinson forced the clerk behind the counter and demanded cash while Hagan stood guard at the door. Robinson then shot the clerk twice in the chest before fleeing with cigarettes but no money.
The Beaumont Police Department quickly posted images from the robbery online, leading to Robinson's identification and arrest three hours later near his home. Although Robinson confessed to his involvement, he did not identify Hagan as an accomplice.
Text messages between Robinson and Hagan revealed their plan to rob the store for money, with discussions about eliminating any witnesses. The conversation ended shortly after the shooting when Hagan advised Robinson to stay indoors for several days.
Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs commented on the case: “The despicable killing committed by Robinson and Hagan has caused unimaginable pain and loss to the victim’s loved ones and damaged the fabric of our society.”
Beaumont Police Chief Tim Ocnaschek highlighted community collaboration in identifying suspects swiftly: “This case shows the importance of collaboration between our officers, our federal partners, and the community that helped us identify the suspect so quickly.”
Douglas Williams, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Houston stated: “Keandre Robinson’s text messages with Larry Hagan... leave no doubt their only ‘plan’ was to kill.”
Robinson was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 7, 2024. Hagan remained at large until April 24, 2024 when he was arrested in New Orleans by U.S. Marshals Service.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America which aims to combat illegal immigration and violent crime through coordinated efforts by various justice departments.
The investigation involved multiple agencies including Beaumont Police Department, FBI, U.S. Marshals Service; prosecution led by Assistant U.S. Attorney John B. Ross.
