Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, along with Senior Advisor for Africa Massad Boulos, held a meeting in Washington, DC to discuss the ongoing conflict in Sudan. The meeting included the Quad ambassadors to the United States: Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba from the United Arab Emirates, Ambassador Reema bint Bandar Al Saud from Saudi Arabia, and Ambassador Motaz Zahran from Egypt.
During the meeting, Deputy Secretary Landau emphasized that the conflict in Sudan poses a threat to shared regional interests and has resulted in a humanitarian crisis. He stated that "the United States does not believe the conflict is amenable to a military solution," urging that efforts should be made by the Quad to encourage a cessation of hostilities and push for a negotiated resolution.
Landau highlighted the U.S. commitment to collaborating closely with these nations to address the crisis and discussed potential next steps in this regard.
