A Box Elder man, Brian Lee Bigbow, has been sentenced to 68 months in prison for sexually abusing a child. The sentence will be followed by 10 years of supervised release, according to U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme.
Bigbow, aged 48, entered a guilty plea in January 2025 to one count of abusive sexual contact by force and of a child. Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris presided over the case.
Court documents reveal that the allegations surfaced in April 2021 through a report from Montana DPHHS centralized intake concerning the abuse of Jane Doe. During interviews, Doe provided detailed accounts of the abuse she endured at the hands of Bigbow. She recounted incidents where Bigbow turned off the TV and lights before assaulting her in his bed while they were watching TV together. Doe described the experience as "sex when you don’t want it" and said it caused her significant pain.
Doe also stated that Bigbow threatened her not to disclose the abuse under threat of harm. She could not recall how many times these incidents occurred but knew they happened multiple times.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office prosecuted this case with investigations conducted by the FBI and Chippewa Cree Law Enforcement Services.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The Department launched an enhanced violent crime reduction strategy on May 26, 2021, which includes fostering trust within communities, supporting community-based violence prevention organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes effectively.
