A resident of Choctaw County, Oklahoma, has entered a guilty plea to a federal firearm charge. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma reported that Jimmy Dale Kelley, also known as Jimmy Dale Kelly and Jimmy Dale Robinson, pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. This offense carries a potential penalty of up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
According to the Superseding Indictment, Kelley was found in possession of a revolver and five rounds of spent ammunition on August 9, 2024. At that time, he had already been convicted of an offense punishable by more than one year in prison.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives alongside the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office. U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow accepted Kelley's plea and ordered a presentence investigation report.
The final sentence will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other legal factors. Meanwhile, Kelley remains free on bond under specific conditions.
