Senate sets hearing for Bryan Bedford's FAA nomination

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, has announced a nomination hearing for Bryan Bedford to become the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The hearing is scheduled for 10:00 AM EST on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

Senator Cruz highlighted the importance of the role in a statement regarding Mr. Bedford's nomination. He stated: "President Trump’s FAA administrator will play a key role in bringing America’s aviation system into the 21st century. One of the FAA’s essential tasks is to manage a safe and effective air traffic system running 24/7." He pointed out recent challenges such as midair collisions and NOTAM outages that indicate vulnerabilities needing reforms.

Cruz further emphasized that "for too long, the FAA has relied on technology from the 1960s and 1970s" which cannot handle expected growth in airspace use. The next administrator will need strong leadership skills to modernize projects and accommodate both new and current users.

Bryan Bedford, from Indiana, is nominated for this significant position within the FAA. The hearing will take place at the Committee Hearing Room, Russell 253, and will be available via livestream on the Committee's website.

Reporters interested in attending should RSVP through their respective media galleries using provided contact information.
