Honduran citizen sentenced for illegal reentry into the United States

Wilson Geovanny Nunez, a 36-year-old Honduran citizen living illegally in the United States, has pleaded guilty to reentry of a removed alien and received a seven-month incarceration sentence. Following his sentence, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will take Nunez into custody for removal proceedings.

Court documents reveal that Nunez was arrested on December 29, 2024, during a traffic stop in Hurricane, West Virginia. ICE agents confirmed his illegal status and noted he had been deported from the United States six times prior. Nunez lacked identification documents granting him legal status in the country.

Nunez's deportations occurred on February 28, 2014; June 9, 2014; July 5, 2018; April 8, 2020; November 8, 2020; and June 2, 2021. He was previously convicted of illegal reentry in the Southern District of West Virginia on April 14, 2021.

Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston praised ICE's investigative efforts. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Erik S. Goes under the supervision of United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice to address illegal immigration and combat transnational criminal organizations.
