Jaime Robles-Vasquez, a 33-year-old resident of Riverdale, Maryland, was found guilty by a Superior Court jury for an assault that occurred in October 2019. The announcement came from U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department.

The charges against Robles-Vasquez included aggravated assault while armed, following a five-day trial. Sentencing is scheduled for August 22, 2025, under Superior Court Judge Andrea Hertzfeld.

The incident took place on October 9, 2019. According to evidence presented by the government, Robles-Vasquez arrived at the victim's residence located in the 600 block of 4th Place SW around 1:30 a.m. He used a shovel to break through the double-pane glass door before entering the home. Once inside, he attacked the victim with the shovel and bit his thumb. This altercation was recorded during a 911 call made by the victim upon noticing Robles-Vasquez in his backyard.

As a result of this attack, the victim suffered multiple injuries including brain bleeding that required emergency surgery. During this event, the victim's wife was present and sought refuge in a bathroom where she also called 911 after hearing glass breaking.

The case was investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Katerina Qesari and Negar Kordestani.
