Avery Taylor, a 20-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service following a bench warrant issued after his indictment in May 2025. The charges against him include first-degree murder while armed, armed robbery, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, and carrying a pistol without a license. This development was announced by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro, U.S. Marshal Anthony Dixon, and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department.

Taylor appeared before Superior Court Judge Rainey Brandt and is being held without bond until his detention hearing scheduled for July 1, 2025.

In connection with this case, Rayon Davis Jr., 18, and Quintin Reed, 18 were arrested on August 16, 2024. They are also detained without bond. The indictment returned on May 7, 2025 charges all three individuals.

Court documents indicate that the defendants are associated with the "On the Clock Gang" or "OCG," which operates in the Woodland Terrace neighborhood as part of a group known as the 7D crew. On December 20, 2023, inside a stairwell at 2921 Knox Place SE, they allegedly shot Dwayne Barbour while robbing him of an authentic Rolex watch valued at approximately $10,000. Mr. Barbour succumbed to his injuries eleven days later on December 31.

The case is under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Ryan Sellinger and John Parron are leading the prosecution.

It is important to note that an indictment is only an allegation; all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
