During the week of May 31 to June 6, 2025, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona charged 199 individuals with immigration-related crimes. The charges include 74 cases of illegal re-entry into the United States and 104 cases of illegal entry. Additionally, 18 cases were filed against 20 individuals for smuggling activities within Arizona. One individual was charged with assaulting a Border Patrol Agent.
Federal law enforcement agencies, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), U.S. Border Patrol, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) supported these operations.
In "United States v. Norberto Rueda-Mancinas," a Border Patrol agent encountered Rueda near San Miguel, Arizona. After attempting to flee, Rueda threw a backpack at the agent causing injury. He was arrested and charged with Assaulting a Federal Officer and Illegal Reentry.
In "United States v.Fabian Ramirez-Childs" and "United States v. Pena-Losada," agents stopped a vehicle suspected of carrying illegal aliens. The driver, Ramirez-Childs, was charged with Transportation of Illegal Aliens for Profit after two passengers fled into the desert.
In "United States v. Cesar Ivan Bencomo Varela," Bencomo Varela was indicted for False Statement in Application or Use of Passport and aggravated identity theft after using a false identity since 2015.
In "United States v. Blanca Esthela Favela-Coronel," Favela-Coronel was charged with Reentry of a Removed Alien following her previous removal from the United States in 2014 after drug-related convictions.
These actions are part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and related criminal activities through coordinated efforts by various federal departments.
Criminal complaints are merely accusations; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt in court.
