Last night, a federal law enforcement building in Los Angeles was surrounded by over 1,000 rioters who assaulted ICE officers, slashed tires, and defaced buildings. The Los Angeles Police Department took two hours to respond to the situation.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has reported a significant increase in assaults against ICE officers, with incidents rising by 413%. Family members of ICE officers have also been targeted recently.

These events follow statements from Democrat politicians such as Hakeem Jeffries, Mayor Wu of Boston, Tim Walz, and Mayor Bass of Los Angeles that have been critical of ICE. "The violent targeting of law enforcement in Los Angeles by lawless rioters is despicable and Mayor Bass and Governor Newsom must call for it to end," said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. She added that these politicians are contributing to the surge in assaults on ICE officers through their rhetoric.

ICE operations in Los Angeles this week led to the arrest of 118 individuals, including five gang members. Those arrested had prior criminal histories involving drug trafficking, assault, cruelty to children, domestic violence, robbery, and alien smuggling. Nationwide, ICE has arrested an average of 2,000 individuals per day this week despite opposition from activists.
