Bryan County man pleads guilty to failing to register as sex offender

A resident of Bryan County, Oklahoma, Dock Lee Shoemaker, aged 60, has pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender. This charge could result in a prison sentence of up to ten years.

The indictment stated that Shoemaker was convicted of felony sexual battery in Oklahoma on February 3, 2016. As a result, he was required to register as a sex offender. However, from August 2020 until April 16, 2025, Shoemaker did not fulfill this obligation while moving through or residing in Indian country within the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The U.S. Marshals Service conducted the investigation leading to this charge.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted Shoemaker's plea and has ordered a presentence investigation report. The final sentence will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other relevant factors.

Shoemaker is currently held by the United States Marshals Service as he awaits sentencing.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessie K. Pippin.
