Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning has expressed support for the introduction of the SPEED Act, a bill aimed at modernizing the acquisition process for the Department of Defense. The legislation was introduced by House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-AL) and Ranking Member Adam Smith (D-WA).
Fanning commented on the significance of this legislative effort, stating, “Today’s introduction of the SPEED Act again shows industry that Congress is serious about making transformational and once-in-a-generation changes to the way we conduct business. Streamlining the acquisition process and removing onerous hurdles to get technology to the warfighter more rapidly will enhance the national security of the United States and bolster the defense industrial base.”
He further acknowledged the bipartisan collaboration behind this initiative, saying, “The Aerospace Industries Association thanks Chairman Rogers and Ranking Member Smith for their collaboration and bipartisan support of the U.S. aerospace and defense industry. We look forward to working closely with them to advance this critical legislation.”
