Thousands of candidates attended the Department of Homeland Security's 2025 Career Expo for Law Enforcement in Chantilly, Virginia. The event focused on recruiting for roles in law and immigration enforcement, border security, and national security. Over 3,000 attendees resulted in more than 1,000 tentative job offers, nearly doubling the figures from a similar event in 2023.
The turnout is attributed to President Donald J. Trump and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem's efforts to inspire Americans to serve in law enforcement. Despite challenges such as doxing threats and anti-cop rhetoric from politicians, many Americans showed willingness to join the force.
Representatives from various DHS components like U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Federal Protective Service, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Transportation Security Administration, U.S. Secret Service, and U.S. Coast Guard were present at the expo. Exceptional candidates received interviews and tentative job offers while undergoing security checks.
The Trump administration's mission to enhance federal agencies has led to increased recruitment success across departments. Notably, applications for the Border Patrol reached historic levels between January and May 2025, while U.S. Secret Service recruitment rose by 200%.
