Turkana Food Inc., based in Kenilworth, NJ, has issued a recall for 352 cases of Floria Dried Apricots due to the presence of undeclared sulfites on the product's labeling. The recalled apricots were distributed across several states including Florida, Kentucky, Virginia, New York, New Jersey, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Texas, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Maryland, Ohio, Alabama, Missouri and California.
The affected product comes in 200-gram paper packaging marked with lot number 440090478-15-333. The UPC label 2539560010 is located on a sticker on the top side of the package. The expiration date is listed as November 2026 on the bottom portion of the package.
No illnesses related to this issue have been reported as of June 12th. "The recall was the result of a routine sampling performed by the New York State Department of Agriculture and markets which revealed that the finished products contained Sulfites that were not listed on the product labelling," stated Turkana Food Inc. Production and distribution have been halted while both FDA and Turkana Food Inc. work to resolve this matter with the manufacturer.
Consumers who purchased Floria Dried Apricots with lot code 440090478-15-333 are advised not to consume them and are encouraged to return them to their place of purchase for a full refund.
