The American Petroleum Institute (API) has responded to the Senate Finance Committee's release of its proposed markup of the 2025 reconciliation bill. API President and CEO Mike Sommers commented on the proposal, saying, "We applaud Chairman Crapo and the Senate Finance Committee for presenting a tax plan that fortifies America’s energy advantage."
Sommers noted that the proposal "strengthens key investment provisions and encourages oil and natural gas development to meet growing demand for affordable, reliable energy." He expressed anticipation in collaborating with Congress to finalize what he referred to as the "One Big Beautiful Bill" and emphasized the importance of a tax package that promotes global competitiveness.
