A federal jury in Omaha, Nebraska, has convicted Clifford Wright III on multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and firearm-related offenses. The verdicts were delivered on June 6, 2025, after a seven-day trial overseen by Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. Sentencing is set for August 29, 2025, where Wright faces a mandatory minimum of ten years in prison.
The prosecution presented evidence showing that Wright was involved in drug transactions at a gas station in north Omaha on October 31, 2022. Surveillance footage and testimonies identified him as a member of the 29th Street Bloods gang. During the incident, gunfire erupted from across the street while Wright was present with a handgun that malfunctioned.
Police later arrested Wright on November 2, 2022. A search warrant led to the discovery of approximately 850 fentanyl pills and three loaded handguns in a safe linked to him. Two of these firearms had been reported stolen.
Data extracted from Wright's cell phone revealed his involvement in drug dealing activities dating back to February 2022. Communications indicated he sold various drugs including fentanyl pills known as "M30."
The case was investigated by the Omaha Police Department with assistance from an agent of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives who provided expert testimony. This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime through community cooperation and strategic law enforcement efforts.
United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods highlighted this initiative's commitment to making neighborhoods safer by fostering trust within communities and setting focused enforcement priorities.
