WASHINGTON – Jarrett Robert Lewis, 44, from the District of Columbia, received a 27-month prison sentence for embezzling nearly $320,000 from a non-profit advocacy organization in the District. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro and Steven J. Jensen, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI Washington Field Office.

Lewis entered a guilty plea on February 13, 2025, to one count of wire fraud. Alongside his prison term, U.S. District Court Judge John D. Bates mandated that Lewis serve three years of supervised release and pay restitution amounting to $318,000. Additionally, he must reimburse the victim organization's attorney fees totaling $53,335.

Between June 2021 and October 2022, Lewis worked at the victim agency as Director of Finance. During this period, he executed a scheme to defraud his employer by exploiting his access to the non-profit's bank account and using an authorized VISA card meant for organizational expenses.

On 32 separate occasions, Lewis transferred funds from Victim 1’s account to his personal account for personal use. He also used the organization's VISA card for personal travel expenses involving himself and others.

Lewis was taken into custody on September 5, 2024.

The FBI’s Washington Field Office conducted the investigation into this case. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Truscott with the Fraud, Public Corruption, and Civil Rights Section of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.
