Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning has expressed approval following an announcement by President Trump regarding a new trade agreement with the United Kingdom. The deal aims to eliminate tariffs on commercial aircraft, jet engines, and related components.

“AIA welcomes today’s announcement to lower trade barriers for commercial aircraft, jet engines, and their parts and components under the Agreement on Trade and Civil Aircraft with the United Kingdom,” Fanning stated. He praised President Trump for his efforts in securing agreements that prioritize the American aerospace sector by safeguarding U.S. manufacturing jobs, fostering economic growth, and boosting exports.

Fanning highlighted the importance of the longstanding relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom, noting that this partnership is crucial as both countries are key importers and exporters of aerospace and defense products. “The longstanding special relationship that we have with the United Kingdom—routinely a top import and export destination for American aerospace and defense products—will only be deepened by this deal," he said.

He further emphasized AIA's role in advocating for such agreements that reinforce America's leadership in commercial aviation. “AIA has been a champion of agreements such as these that affirm our standing as the leader in commercial aviation, and we are grateful to see the Administration share our view of the American aerospace and defense industry,” Fanning added.

In May, AIA published a white paper urging adherence to a 1979 agreement to maintain duty-free access for commercial aerospace goods. Fanning encouraged continued pursuit of fair bilateral trade deals by the Trump Administration.
