Edgardo Amador-Rodriguez, a 29-year-old Honduran national, has been sentenced to six months in federal prison for re-entering the United States after being deported. The sentence was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson on June 17, 2025.
Court documents reveal that Amador-Rodriguez had previously been deported on June 8, 2018. He was apprehended after the Pacific Enforcement Response Center issued a detainer following his arrest on several state charges at the Orleans Justice Center on December 22, 2024. A subsequent detainer was issued on March 5, 2025, when he was arrested and booked into Jefferson Parish for municipal and traffic attachments.
Enforcement and Removal Operations New Orleans took custody of Amador-Rodriguez on March 7, 2025, after his release from local custody. Department of Homeland Security records confirm his last deportation to Honduras occurred in June 2018.
Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended the investigative efforts of United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, along with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Carter K.D. Guice Jr., from the General Crimes Unit, is overseeing the prosecution.
This case falls under Operation Take Back America—a nationwide initiative led by the Department of Justice aimed at addressing illegal immigration and combating cartels and transnational criminal organizations to enhance community safety.
