Keyon Slaughter, a 28-year-old resident of Waldorf, Maryland, has entered a guilty plea for the murder of Dana Bailey Jr. in December 2022. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

Slaughter admitted to second-degree murder while armed, with his plea agreement suggesting a 16-year prison sentence followed by five years of supervised release. This agreement is pending court approval by Judge Danya Dayson, who has set the sentencing date for August 29, 2025.

Court documents reveal that on December 5, 2022, at around 10:15 a.m., Slaughter entered Dana Bailey Jr.'s residence located at Apartment 3 on E Street Southeast in Washington, D.C. Inside the apartment, Slaughter confronted Bailey and fatally shot him once in the chest with a .40 caliber handgun before fleeing to North Carolina.

At the time of the incident, Slaughter was involved with Mr. Bailey's wife. She was also indicted alongside Slaughter and pleaded guilty to obstructing justice. Furthermore, Slaughter was under supervised probation for a previous armed robbery conviction from Charles County, Maryland in 2019 when he committed this crime.

The investigation into this case was conducted by MPD’s Homicide Branch and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles R. Jones.
