During a week of enforcement operations from June 14 to June 20, 2025, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona charged 177 individuals with immigration-related criminal conduct. The charges included 80 cases of illegal re-entry into the United States and 87 cases of illegal entry. Additionally, nine cases were filed against ten individuals accused of smuggling illegal aliens into and within Arizona.
The cases were supported by several federal law enforcement agencies, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ICE ERO), ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), U.S. Border Patrol, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
One notable case involved Heriberto Medina, who was charged on June 16 after attempting to transport an individual illegally present in the United States through the Douglas Port of Entry in a Toyota Camry. Another case involved Carlos Barrera-Aguilar, arrested near Wellton, Arizona on June 17 for illegal re-entry after having been previously removed from the United States three times. On June 18, Juan Carlos Morales-Chavez was charged with possession of a firearm while being illegally present in the country.
A criminal complaint is a method by which a person is charged with criminal activity without implying guilt. Individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
These actions are part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime.
