Wewoka man pleads guilty to federal firearm charge

The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has announced that Demontrae Davion Rogers, a 20-year-old resident of Wewoka, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to one count of possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number. This offense carries a potential penalty of up to ten years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

According to the indictment, on April 2, 2024, Rogers knowingly and unlawfully possessed a semi-automatic pistol with its serial number or other required identification altered or removed. The charge stems from an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives alongside the Seminole Nation Lighthorse Police.

U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow accepted Rogers' plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and has ordered a presentence investigation report. The final sentence will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge who will consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors before making a decision.

Rogers is currently held in custody by the United States Marshals Service as he awaits sentencing. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jacob R. Parker.
