A Mexican citizen, Miguel Angel Lozada-Dominguez, was sentenced to six months in prison followed by removal from the United States for illegal reentry. U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme announced the sentencing, which took place in Missoula.
Lozada-Dominguez, 36, had pleaded guilty in May 2025 to one count of illegal reentry. The sentencing was presided over by U.S. District Judge Donald W. Molloy.
According to court documents, on April 7, 2025, law enforcement encountered Lozada-Dominguez in St. Regis where he appeared to be soliciting money with a notebook containing handwritten English phrases. He informed officers that he was a Mexican citizen without valid immigration documents or legal authorization to enter the United States and did not claim any lawful status or citizenship in the country.
He was arrested and taken to a local jail for reinstatement of a prior order of removal. During an interview, Lozada-Dominguez admitted crossing into the United States undetected through Del Rio, Texas.
His records indicated a previous conviction for illegal entry and an order of removal dated January 24, 2019. There was no evidence that he sought or received authorization from the Attorney General to reenter the country.
The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office with investigations conducted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
This case is part of "Operation Take Back America," which aims to combat illegal immigration and dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators.
