A Guatemalan national residing unlawfully in Lawrence, Massachusetts, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for illegal reentry into the United States. Marcos Riquiac-Ordonez, 41, faces one count of unlawful reentry after deportation. He was arrested by immigration authorities on May 12, 2025.
The indictment states that Riquiac-Ordonez was deported from the U.S. on April 26, 2016. It is alleged that he reentered the country without permission sometime after his removal in April 2016.
The charge carries a potential sentence of up to two years in prison, one year of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Following any sentence imposed, the defendant is subject to deportation. Sentences are determined by a federal district court judge based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston announced the indictment. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexandra W. Amrhein from the Major Crimes Unit is handling the prosecution.
It should be noted that all details contained in the charging documents are allegations at this stage. The defendant remains presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
