Clinton J. Johnson U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma
A Mannford resident, Gary Syd Goldberg, has been sentenced to 120 months in prison for possession of child pornography. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Eric F. Melgren and includes a subsequent 10-year period of supervised release. Following his release, Goldberg will be required to register as a sex offender.
The case originated in October 2023 when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a cybertip about an image uploaded to an artificial intelligence image generator platform. Investigations revealed that Goldberg was responsible for uploading an image depicting child sexual abuse. A search warrant executed at his residence led to the seizure of multiple electronic devices containing hundreds of such images.
Goldberg admitted during questioning that he had been viewing images and videos of children being sexually abused daily over the past 24 years. Court records indicate that he previously pled guilty in 2001 to receiving child pornography through the mail, resulting in an 18-month prison sentence.
The investigation was conducted by the Mannford Police Department and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Mallory Richard and Ashley Robert prosecuting the case.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse online. The project brings together federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute offenders while also identifying and rescuing victims.
