Utah man indicted for alleged shooting with stolen pistol

A federal grand jury has indicted Hiram Bokadrik, a 29-year-old from Salt Lake County, Utah, on multiple firearm charges. The indictment follows an incident where Bokadrik allegedly fired a stolen semi-automatic pistol at two individuals in Salt Lake City.

Court documents reveal that the event occurred on June 7, 2025, around 4:18 p.m. Officers from the Salt Lake City Police Department responded to reports of "shots fired" at a residence. Upon arrival, they met with two people who claimed that Bokadrik had shot at them after being confronted about trespassing. A 9mm casing was found at the scene. Officers later located Bokadrik hiding under a tarp in a construction area and recovered a loaded Glock 43X and a hat reportedly worn by him during the incident.

Further investigation showed that the firearm had been stolen during a vehicle burglary earlier that day. Bokadrik is legally prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition due to state and federal restrictions.

Bokadrik faces charges of being a restricted person in possession of a stolen firearm and ammunition and possession of a stolen firearm. His initial court appearance is set for June 26, 2025, before a U.S. Magistrate Judge at the Orrin G. Hatch United States District Courthouse in Salt Lake City.

The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Felice John Viti for the District of Utah. The case is being investigated by an FBI Task Force Officer with assistance from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Assistant United States Attorney Victoria K. McFarland will prosecute the case.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, which aims to combat illegal immigration and violent crime through coordinated efforts by various law enforcement agencies.

It should be noted that an indictment is merely an allegation; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt in court.
