The U.S. Department of Labor has announced the allocation of over $23 million in grants aimed at aiding veterans experiencing homelessness to reenter the workforce. These funds are distributed through the department’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service under the Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program (HVRP). The program has awarded 63 grants, each covering a three-year period.

These grants will assist veterans by providing occupational skills training, connecting them with Registered Apprenticeships or other on-the-job training opportunities, and offering job search and placement services. The goal is to help these veterans overcome barriers to employment and transition back into the workforce successfully.

According to the department, "VETS awards HVRP grants competitively to nonprofit and for-profit organizations, Native American Tribal governments, state and local workforce development boards, state and local government agencies, higher education institutions and faith-based and community organizations."

Recipients of these new HVRP grants span across various states including Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio & Indiana (jointly), Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee & Arkansas (jointly), Texas & Arizona (jointly), Virginia & District of Columbia & Maryland (jointly), Washington State & West Virginia (jointly), Wyoming & Montana (jointly).

This funding aims to provide comprehensive support for veterans facing homelessness or those at risk by equipping them with necessary skills and employment opportunities.
