A man from St. George, Utah, Jaycee Stewart, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for crimes related to child sexual abuse materials. U.S. District Court Judge Ann Marie McIff Allen delivered the sentence following Stewart's guilty plea on November 4, 2024.
In addition to the prison term, Stewart will face a lifetime of supervised release and is required to pay restitution to his victims.
The charges against Stewart arose after a child reported being sexually abused by him on April 12, 2023. The child disclosed the abuse to an elementary school teacher and mentioned that Stewart had inappropriate images of children in his possession. A subsequent search of Stewart's residence revealed numerous images of child sexual abuse on his walls and various digital devices containing tens of thousands of such files.
Stewart had a previous conviction for possession of child pornography in Utah state court in 2015. He has also pleaded guilty to sexually abusing two other victims and awaits sentencing for these offenses in state court.
The investigation was conducted by the St. George Police Department with Assistant United States Attorney Christopher Burton prosecuting the case for the District of Utah.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse through federal, state, and local collaboration. More information about this initiative can be found at Justice.gov/PSC.
