Henry Tyler Allen, a 35-year-old resident of Durant, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 77 months in prison for illegally possessing a firearm. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced the sentence following investigations conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Durant Police Department.
Allen pleaded guilty on January 7, 2025, to one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Investigators reported that on September 24, 2024, Allen was found with a 9mm semi-automatic pistol despite having a prior conviction for a crime punishable by more than one year in prison.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The program emphasizes building trust within communities, supporting violence prevention organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes. It was strengthened on May 26, 2021, as part of a broader violent crime reduction strategy.
The sentencing hearing was overseen by Chief U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Allen will remain under the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service until he is transported to a designated facility within the United States Bureau of Prisons to serve his non-paroleable sentence.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Gross represented the United States in this case.
