Santos Reyes-Garcia, a 37-year-old Mexican national, has pleaded guilty to unlawful reentry in the Eastern District of Oklahoma. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the district announced that Reyes-Garcia admitted to one count of Unlawful Reentry of Removed Alien, which carries a potential sentence of up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
The charge stems from an investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division. According to the indictment, Reyes-Garcia was found in the United States on May 5, 2025, after having been previously removed without obtaining permission from the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at addressing illegal immigration and combatting cartels and transnational criminal organizations. The operation involves resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.
U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow accepted Reyes-Garcia's plea and ordered a presentence investigation report. A U.S. District Court Judge will determine his sentence based on federal guidelines and other legal factors.
Reyes-Garcia remains in custody with the United States Marshals Service until sentencing. Assistant U.S. Attorney Dak T. Cohen represented the government in this case.
