A Franklin resident, Brian Landry, 69, has entered a guilty plea in federal court for making a threat against a United States Senator. Acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack announced the development on June 26, 2025.
Landry admitted to one count of transmitting a threat in interstate communication during his appearance at the federal court in Concord. U.S. District Court Judge Samantha Elliott has set the sentencing date for October 2, 2025.
Court documents and statements reveal that on May 17, 2023, Landry left a threatening voicemail at the district office of an unnamed U.S. Senator. The message stated: “Hey stupid I’m a veteran sniper. And unless you change your ways, I got my scope pointed in your direction and I’m coming to get you. You’re a dead man walking you piece of f***ing sh*t.” Investigators traced the call back to Landry's phone number. Upon being interviewed by investigators, Landry acknowledged making the call but could not initially remember the exact content of his message.
The charge carries potential penalties including up to five years imprisonment, three years supervised release, and fines reaching $250,000. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge according to U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Capitol Police with assistance from New Hampshire State Police, Franklin Police Department, and Manchester Police Departments. Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles L. Rombeau is handling prosecution duties.
