Javon Roach, a 20-year-old from the District of Columbia, has been sentenced to 228 months in federal prison for his involvement in a series of violent crimes. These incidents included armed carjackings and robberies that affected 17 victims. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced the sentencing.
Roach's criminal activities ended with a high-speed chase and an assault on a police officer, leading to his arrest in Fairfax County on March 30, 2023. He pleaded guilty two years later to multiple charges, including three counts of carjacking and two counts of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. In addition to the prison sentence, U.S. District Court Judge Rudolph Contreras ordered Roach to serve five years of supervised release.
Court documents reveal that between March 6 and March 28, 2023, Roach committed six armed carjackings and five armed robberies. On February 7, he carjacked a man who was inflating his car tires in Washington D.C., assaulting him before fleeing with two accomplices.
Further incidents include the carjacking of another victim near a pizza restaurant on March 6 and multiple robberies and carjackings throughout March. Notably, on March 29, Roach participated in stealing an Audi Q5 with co-conspirators but was apprehended by Fairfax County Police after attempting to flee in the vehicle.
Roach also faced charges in Fairfax County for possession of a machine gun and assaulting a police officer during his arrest.
Co-defendants Andre Rushing and Dominic Armstrong have pleaded guilty to related charges but are awaiting sentencing. The case involved investigations by the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force along with local law enforcement agencies and is being prosecuted by Trial Attorney Gaelin Bernstein and Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrea Duvall.
