Shang Hao Jia, Inc., based in South El Monte, California, has announced a recall of 50 cases of Danshi brand Spicy Shredded Tofu due to the presence of undeclared sesame. The product was distributed in California and delivered directly to supermarkets.

The recalled tofu is packaged in a plastic container with a net weight of 200 grams. It carries the UPC code 6942849709499, lot code #20240825, and has a best-by date of May 24, 2025. No illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall.

The issue was identified during an FDA inspection of the foreign manufacturer when it was found that the product containing sesame was distributed without appropriate labeling indicating its presence. "People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sesame run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product," according to the company statement.

Consumers who purchased the affected product are advised to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. For further inquiries, consumers can contact Shang Hao Jia at 1-626-277-2819 from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, Pacific Time.

This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
