A Mexican national residing illegally in Mount Pleasant, Texas, has been charged with federal violations. Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs announced that Jose Solorio-Martinez, 38, is facing charges of illegal reentry into the United States after a previous deportation.
According to the indictment, Solorio-Martinez was discovered on April 24, 2025, in Mount Pleasant after being deported to Mexico on August 8, 2017. The case falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at addressing illegal immigration and combating transnational criminal organizations.
If convicted, Solorio-Martinez could face up to two years in federal prison followed by deportation. The investigation involves multiple agencies including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the FBI, and the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren Richards is prosecuting the case. It is important to note that a federal indictment does not constitute evidence of guilt; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
