Colombian woman sentenced for illegal reentry into U.S., faces deportation

A Colombian woman has been sentenced to time served after pleading guilty to the charge of illegal reentry into the United States. Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti announced that Heyder Molina Prieto, 38, was sentenced by United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon.

The court heard that Prieto had been charged with access device fraud and theft-related crimes by the Monroeville Police Department on November 7, 2024. The offenses were committed on October 22, 2024. Two days later, she faced similar charges from the Upper St. Clair Police Department for incidents occurring on the same date. Following these legal issues, immigration authorities found Prieto had reentered the U.S. illegally after being removed in June 2020 and March 2022. She has remained in custody since her arrest in November and will be transferred to immigration custody pending her removal from the country.

Assistant United States Attorney Rebecca L. Silinski handled the prosecution for this case.

Acting United States Attorney Rivetti praised U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations along with the Monroeville and Upper St. Clair police departments for their roles in investigating and prosecuting Prieto successfully.

This case falls under Operation Take Back America, a national initiative aimed at dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations while combating illegal immigration and protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators.
