U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, serving as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, is set to lead a nominations hearing for several Department of Commerce nominees. The hearing is scheduled for 10:00 AM EST on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
The nominees include Dr. Neil Jacobs from North Carolina for the position of Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere (NOAA Administrator). Mr. Taylor Jordan from the District of Columbia has been nominated to be an Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Environmental Observation and Prediction (NOAA). Additionally, Mr. Harry Kumar from New York is nominated to be an Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs.
The full committee nomination hearing will take place in the Committee Hearing Room at Russell 253. The event will also be available via livestream on both the Committee's website and YouTube.
