A Brazilian national residing unlawfully in Milford has been indicted by a federal grand jury for reentering the United States illegally after deportation. Wadriam Jose Ferreira Do Carmo, aged 23, faces charges of unlawful reentry as a deported alien. The defendant was initially charged via a criminal complaint on May 19, 2025.
Ferreira Do Carmo was apprehended by United States Border Patrol on June 2, 2023, for illegal entry into the U.S., and he was deported on July 20, 2023. Despite this, he allegedly reentered the country at an unknown date and location without inspection.
On May 6, 2024, immigration authorities discovered Ferreira Do Carmo's unlawful presence in the U.S. following his arrest by local law enforcement in Sherborn on an outstanding warrant. On May 19, 2025, authorities conducted surveillance at his last known residence in Milford. It is alleged that Ferreira Do Carmo arrived at the residence in a white van and fled towards it upon arrival. Once inside, law enforcement reportedly heard a window slam and items fall onto the porch. When officers approached and knocked on the door, Ferreira Do Carmo allegedly did not respond or exit the premises.
The charge of unlawful reentry carries potential penalties including up to two years in prison, one year of supervised release, and fines up to $250,000. Following any sentence served, the defendant may face deportation again. Sentences are determined by a federal district court judge according to U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley announced these developments alongside Patricia H. Hyde from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston and John E. King of the Milton Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Sullivan Jacobus is prosecuting this case.
All details within the charging documents remain allegations at this stage; Ferreira Do Carmo is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt in court.
