A federal inmate in Beaumont, Texas, has been indicted on charges of threatening a Bureau of Prisons official. Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs announced that John Robert Bond, 55, was named in an indictment by a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Texas.
The indictment claims that on May 25, 2025, Bond, who is housed with the Bureau of Prisons in Beaumont, made threats to assault and murder the Federal Bureau of Prisons Camp Administrator.
This case falls under Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations. The operation combines efforts from the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.
If found guilty, Bond could face up to 10 years in federal prison.
The FBI is conducting the investigation while Assistant U.S. Attorney John B. Ross will prosecute the case.
It is important to note that a federal indictment does not imply guilt; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
